Strictly's Bobby Brazier shares his stress technique after 'emotional' week
Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier is using meditation to stay relaxed when the going gets tough.
Pressure is mounting as he juggles his role in EastEnders with his ballroom training, but he is chanting his stresses away. Actor and model Bobby, 20, said: “How do you navigate being on EastEnders and being a spiritual and aspiring person? How do you do that? Well, anytime I’m at home, chanting makes it so easy.
“I am reaping the rewards of chanting. And at work, I’m lucky that, you know, sometimes I’ll be in my dressing room or sometimes I won’t need to be on set. There’s always an opportunity to chant. Even on the train and going to work in the car. It’s always an opportunity. No one is ever too busy to meditate. Ever. It is an opportunity to purify consciousness.”
Bobby is paired up with pro dancer Dianne Buswell on Strictly and she described him as her “massive rock” as they got emotional following their dance at the weekend. They scored 30 out of 40 for their tango to Fashion by David Bowie making Bobby at 5-2 the second favourite to lift the Glitterball trophy with bookmakers Paddy Power.
The soap star also told podcast For Soul’s Sake he is good at dealing with criticism, which could help if he ever gets a low score from the judges on the hit BBC show. He said: “You face it and it might not feel great for a minute but you forget about it as quickly as you see it, you know. But also I get that not everyone can do that. I’m lucky that I have a deeper understanding of who I am. It really helps with that.”
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessHowever, many fans were concerned for Bobby over the weekend as they noticed something "off" about him. The BBC EastEnders star's emotional and subdued appearance on the show caused concern, with Dianne Buswell hugging him and calling him her "rock". Fans quickly sent their support to the soap actor, who plays Freddie Slater in the BBC show.
After they made it through to the next week of the competition in scenes that aired on Sunday night, Bobby took to social media and reached out to fans. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "My dear coach to learn from, friend to feel it all beside and big sister to drive loopy. Thankyou for your votes," whilst Dianne commented on the post, adding: "me bestie, so proud of you love from COACH."
During their post-dance chat with Claudia Winkleman, Bobby admitted it had been an "emotional" week. He said: "It's been emotional. So, so emotional. All week. But closing the show is a great privilege," as Dianne added: "It was really difficult. I pushed you [Bobby] musically. That song is not easy to hear and you worked so hard to be able to hear the music." She fought back tears and hugged Bobby before adding: "But he's just been a massive rock this week so thank you."
