NFL star Travis Kelce showed his sense of humour as he appeared at the end of a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch centred around his romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift.

The budding relationship between the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the chart-topping singer has been the subject of much intrigue in recent weeks. The 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker has appeared in the crowd at three of her new beau's games over the past month, as speculation grew that the pair were dating.

However, the world-famous duo all but confirmed their romance by appearing at a recording of hit comedy sketch show 'SNL' at the Rockefeller Center in New York. In this week's episode, comic Pete Davidson led his ensemble team of fellow comedians as they performed a special NFL-themed sketch.

Comedians Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, James Austin Johnson, Molly Kearney and Devon Walker would take to the stage to spoof the Fox 'NFL Sunday pregame show'. Performing as reporters on a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets, Kelce and Swift would be mentioned throughout.

As the sketch went on it was clear that the premise was a pretend scenario in which the 'Cruel Summer' singer had gone to watch Kelce's brother Jason in action for the Eagles. Forming a central role in the story arc of the sketch, their relationship would be referenced in an opening address from Thompson.

He who began with: "It's week 7, and if any Taylor Swift fans are watching, the Chiefs game was on Thursday, you just missed her, " before the comedians even addressed the mystery over the exact nature of their blossoming relationship which has persisted in recent weeks.

Kenan's character said: "All right, all right. Let's get into the game and stop yapping about Taylor and her little boyfriend," to which there was an audible gasp at the table, before his co-star Day queried: "Boyfriend? Hold on there, no one said boyfriend. Let's no jump to conclusions here."

After this, Strahan's character then offered some words of advice to Kelce, saying: "Hey, look, I just want to say whatever it is, I want to say to Travis Kelce, from one Super Bowl Champion to another, this is a way bigger deal than the Super Bowl."

Later on, as Kenan's character appeared to be wrapping things up before the commercial break, he then admitted that he was eager to 'speak with someone who actually wants to talk football'. What happened next would delight the audience gathered at the studio, as Kelce himself appeared on stage, to conclude the sketch by replying: "Yes, please!"

That was not the only surprise of the evening, though, as his new love Swift appeared soon after to introduce her fellow musician Ice Spice, who was performing as part of the show. After the show ended, the couple were then seen attending the SNL afterparty.

The couple arrived together in a car for the bash following the recording, with Kelce opening the door for Swift once they arrived. Afterwards, they were seen leaving the venue together and the Chiefs superstar and the 'Karma' hitmaker held hands as they emerged.
