Pamela Anderson has defended controversial comments she made about the #MeToo movement, saying it "takes two to tango".

The former Baywatch star, 55, slammed the campaign during a widely slammed 2017 interview in which she said victims of Harvey Weinstein "knew what they were getting into".

Last year, Weinstein was found guilty of rape and sexual assault in his latest criminal trial. He is also three years into a 23-year sentence for a rape and sexual assault conviction.

In 2018, Pamela labelled the #MeToo movement a "bore" and said "feminism can go too far".

Now, the former glamour model has addressed the backlash she received for her comments and admitted she "could even take it a step further".

Pamela said she had to learn how to look after herself during her career and said her mother taught her a "sense of value and self-worth".

"My mother would tell me — and I think this is the kind of feminism I grew up with — it takes two to tango," she said in a new interview.

"My mom would say, 'If someone answers the door in a hotel robe and you're going for an interview, don't go in. But if you do go in, get the job'.

"That’s a horrible thing to say but that’s how I was. I skated on the edges of destruction, I just had this sense of value and self-worth," Pamela told Interview Magazine.

She added that a lot of people "weren't taught that" before going on to admit "people are much more careful and respectful" because of the #MeToo movement.

Pamela has recently released her Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story. The film gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at all aspects of the actress' life.

Pamela, A Love Story also recounts the time her sex tape with her ex-husband Tommy Lee was leaked, after she slammed the Disney+ series Pam & Tommy for their portrayal of her story.

The film features interviews with Pamela as well as new images from her collection and notes from her journals.

Pamela has credited her sons — Brandon, 26, and Dylan, 25 — for "encouraging me to tell my story" in her new documentary.
