Answering questions on Lee Mack's The 1% Club can make you feel seriously accomplished, especially when you're going head-to-head with friends and family to see who can rack up the highest score before the game is done and dusted. It can get seriously competitive.

The ITV quiz show has gained popularity over the past year since it was first launched in April 2022 thanks to its unique layout. The programme sees 100 contestants compete for a £100,000 prize pot by answering 15 tough questions that get progressively harder until it's a question that only 1% of the population is able to answer

So, do you think you'd be able to answer one of the trickiest questions to make you part of the 1% club? Be warned - it's seriously tricky, and you'll be left scratching your head wondering how on earth you're going to tackle it.

If you list all the numbers from 1 to 100 in order, 100 would be the 100th number but what would be the 100th digit?

Wow. That's tough. We forgot to mention that there's of course a time limit on the show, so you don't have very long to provide the answer. We're sweating just reading the question, let alone attempting to answer it.

Have you managed to come up with a solution? If not and you're still thinking, look away, because the answer is coming up.

Answer:

5 - the first digit in 55 is the 100th number.

'How?' we hear you ask. Well, the trick here is that the questions asks for digits, so each two-digit number counts twice which is why the answer is 55 and not 100. This is an ideal example of why it's so important to read the question properly.

Did you manage to come to the right conclusion? If so, congratulations, you're in the top 1% of quizzers. If not, at least you gave it a good go. Maybe instead you'd like to find out whether you're intelligent or optimistic? Or perhaps you'd prefer to spot the lemons in and amongst the chicks?

Did you manage to come to the right answer? Let us know in the comments.
