The duo performed an incredible Cha Cha Cha to Million Dollar Bill by Whitney Houston, where they scored an impressive 37 points, receiving three nines and a ten from the judges. Host, Claudia Winkleman, pointed out: "Highest score of the series and the earliest 10 for a Cha Cha Cha in Strictly history!"

Nikita, 25, was left speechless before shouting: "Come on, come on!" with Layton also left stunned over the incredible achievement. Viewers were also left delighted over the achievement with one person writing: "Layton and Nikita. Finally ! A well deserved 10. To be fair, it was worth more than one. #Strictly", a different account put: "Layton and Nikita were fab-u-lous #strictly" while another added: "That was totally amazing #Layton #Nikita Blew my mind #Strictly!"

Prior to the result, Layton sweetly said to Nikita: "You're the best teacher and choreographer ever, I'm so glad I finally listened to you... I have been listening but I really listened this week! I really did!"

It comes as Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez were eliminated last week as they became the second due to leave the BBC One dance competition. The professional dancer, 33, was paired with BBC Asian Network radio star Nikita, 28, in this series, after reaching the final in 2022 with Helen Skelton. The pair performed a jive for movie week themed around Clueless, but their performance did not impress the judges, earning them just 21 out of a possible 40 points, including a low score of 4 from Craig Revel Horwood.

The duo found themselves in the dance-off with Graziano Di Prima and Zara McDermott with former Love Island star Zara, 26, and Graziano being unanimously saved by the judges. The first celebrity to leave the series was Les Dennis after his Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation with pro partner Nancy Xu failed to impress the judges. Reflecting on his exit, Les, 70, told host Tess Daly: "I've had the best time, this lady [Nancy] has been amazing, a great teacher, she's really put me through my paces."
