Pete Davidson is said to be “living in the woods” as he shuns New York City after his rehab stint, and is reportedly embarking on a “reclusive new life”.

The comedian, 29, has been preparing to return to Saturday Night Live to host the cult sketch show, but according to reports, he has withdrawn from the bright lights of his home city to enjoy a much quieter life instead. Pete has taken up residence “in the woods”, according to The U.S. Sun, and is living far away from NYC after a tumultuous few months in the spotlight.

Earlier this year, he voluntarily checked into a mental health facility to receive treatment for his previously diagnosed borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and shortly afterwards, his relationship with Chase Sui Wonders broke down. He has since began dating Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline, 25, and the pair were spotted enjoying breakfast together after spending the night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

After having his personal life thrust into the spotlight once again, Pete has allegedly opted for a more reclusive life outside NYC, and has even ditched partying, with the King of Staten Island star more likely to “head back to his hotel room” after a stand-up show. “He doesn't do anything these days. He just hangs in his room and watches TV. He doesn't come out much and doesn't really do anything,” an insider told The U.S. Sun.

He joked about his living arrangements during a recent promo for SNL, and told his former castmates Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman he had moved into Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center. “Oh, my apartment’s under construction, so I’m just living here,” he quipped.

In May last year, Pete announced he was leaving the show that propelled him to superstardom, and paid tribute to SNL in an emotional statement on Instagram. “I got to share so much with this audience and literally grow up in front of your eyes. We were together through the good and the bad, the happiest and the darkest of times. I owe Lorne Michaels and everyone at SNL my life,” he shared.

"I'm so grateful and I wouldn't be here without them. I appreciate you guys always having my back and sticking up for me even when that wasn't the popular opinion. Thank you for always believing in me and sticking by my side even when it seemed comical. Thank you for teaching me life values, how to grow up and for giving me memories that will last a lifetime. SNL is my home,” he sweetly added.
