A café in the UK is selling sausage rolls at a price claimed to be the highest in the world.

Store Street Espresso in London, is selling the British classic for an eye-watering £7.20. The café currently has four shops in the capital located at Spitalfields in the East End, Hammersmith, West London, and two in posh Fitzrovia.

In comparison, Harrods sells sausage rolls for £5, while Greggs offers its version for a more wallet-friendly £1.45.

The Mirror previosuly reported that an "unknown pub" sparked outrage last year when it started selling their version of the pastry delights for £7.50. As previously reported by the Daily Star, this steep price tag left a bad taste for some, as many were not able to overlook the "audacity".

One person on X, then known as Twitter, said: "Unless there's swan meat in the rolls, I don't want to know." Another wrote: “Bloody hell. Are they like eight-foot long? I'd expect to be eating sausage roll leftovers every meal for a week for that price.”

So, it is still a possibility that dearer sausage rolls may be lurking elsewhere. Earlier this year Newcastle was crowned as the sausage roll capital of the UK according to Greggs.

While an 'epic' mum won the hearts of thousands after tucking into a Greggs sausage roll hours after she gave birth. Lottie Adele, 36, is a longtime fan of the bakery treat. So when she woke up hungry after her C-section on Tuesday, she knew just what she needed.

The mum-of-two sent her boyfriend to collect Greggs, and it turned out to be a brilliant decision, as Lottie enjoyed the 'best sausage roll' she's ever had.
