Captain Tom Moore film delayed after family controversy over £800,000 book cash
A biopic about the life of Captain Sir Tom Moore is being revised amid fresh controversy around the NHS fundraiser’s legacy.
The film, a tribute to the veteran who died at 100 in 2021, was meant to have started shooting by now. But a producer revealed it has been delayed.
Captain Tom’s family are facing claims they used his charitable efforts for private gain, which they deny. This week, daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore, 52, said she had kept £800,000 made from three books published by Captain Tom at his request. However, the books included a note hinting that sales would support the Captain Tom Foundation.
Ms Ingram-Moore has also come under fire for building a spa in an outbuilding designated for the Foundation. There is no suggestion charity funds were used.
Plans for a Captain Tom film were announced in September 2020, after the veteran raised £39m for NHS charities. In May this year, the script was reportedly completed, with shooting due to begin in autumn.

No title or cast have been made public.
