Big Brother's Lisa Appleton took on regular day job after fall from fame

Big Brother is famed for its outrageous housemates, most of which are memorable even years later. Some go on to become TV personalities, but not everyone continues to stay in the limelight after their newfound fame in showbiz, including former contestant Lisa Appleton.

The 55-year-old no longer relies on TV gigs for her main income, as Lisa has now taken on a very regular job, as an Amazon delivery driver - which she deems is much more stable. She and her then-boyfriend Mario Marconi, 58, shot to fame in the 2008 series, being the first couple to enter the Big Brother house together.

The pair got engaged on the show and later got married on Channel 4 series The Wedding House, beforing calling time on their union and divorcing in 2013. After her divorce, and struggling with fame, she was turned away by potential employers, which resulted in her being made homeless.

Lisa was spotted in Chesire wearing a name badge and a lanyard while working a shift. She told The Sun: "'Obviously with the lockdown, a lot of my projects at the time got cancelled. So in the meantime, because of the cost of living and stuff like that, food has gone up, everything has gone up."

She added: "I can't believe the prices sometimes, they have added a pound onto things. Electricity's gone up so I thought as a boost to my income I would get a job at Amazon." But since her new job, the former bodybuilder is already considering giving up due to tough demands to make the deliveries in a day and has been struggling to be out and about when it rains.

Lisa previously said that the hit reality show "changed her life" and that she would 'love' the opportunity to be involved in the production again. However her massive fall from fame has seen her take part in other shows instead.

In 2015, the star appeared on Channel 5's documentary Celebs on Benefits. The show documented the stories of famous people who relied on handouts and were struggling financially.

Lisa hit out at migrant workers and blamed them for her struggle to make ends meet. She said: "The way I see it, I just think having migrant workers over here affects everything. We have less money, less opportunities and less jobs because of them. It just adds so much more stress. And then I get bank charges because of it."
