Katie Piper celebrates turning 40 with stunning photoshoot and hugs from kids
Katie Piper was surrounded with family, gifts, food and love on Thursday as she celebrated her landmark year of turning 40.
The Loose Women star had a lavish day filled with gifts and surprises as she waved goodbye to her 30s and embraced the next decade of her life. And she had her nearest and dearest on hand to help her celebrate from the moment she got up in the morning.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Katie took time to acknowledge her big day and to highlight her gratitude for every day life brings. The TV star and model shared a captivating portrait photograph of herself which she shared alongside a poignant statement.
The star - who was the victim of a horrifying acid attack plot in 2008 - wrote: “Age is a gift, not everyone is given. So with that, Happy 40th Birthday to me.” Her post attracted plenty of warm wishes, with Gaby Roslin among those responding, writing: “Happy birthday you beautiful soul.” And Stacey Dooley declared: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUPERSTAR.”
Katie’s husband, Richard Sutton, and their two daughters were cheering her on throughout the day. Taking to Instagram in the morning, Katie shared a snap of herself being hugged by her two girls and wrote: “Blindfolded and led down the stairs by these two this morning.” Her image showed her standing in front of a collection of gifts and balloons.

She went on to share a photo of a card that Richard - who she has been married to since 2015 - had gifted her showing them photographed together over the years. She shared a short clip of a balloon emblazoned with the number 40, a photo of ‘Gin in a Tin’ that she appeared to receive as a gift, and footage of herself and her family enjoying a celebrator breakfast including egg white pancaked with sprinkles.

Husband Richard shared photos from across the years (Instagram)She then shared an avalanche of posts from friends and celebrities that were wishing her many happy returns. The team at Loose Women shared a snap of Katie at the famous daytime desk with the message: “We're wishing Katie the happiest of birthdays, sending you lots of love from your Loose Women family.” And Katie replied: “Thank you my lovely Loose family.”
Despite working in the spotlight, Katie has managed to keep her family life reasonably private, but recently explained that she considers herself to be a regular mum. She told Psychologies in July this year: ‘I’m not perfect, I’m just a regular mum.
“Sometimes I’m winning, and feel like I’m doing really well, like when I have time to go to sports day and remember the swimming kit. And other times, I drop the ball. My kids go in uniform and it’s non-uniform day, and I make the wrong sandwich. I don’t think anyone gets it right all of the time. You just need to find your tribe and support one another when you’re struggling.”
