Paloma Faith candidly admits to feeling 'alone' on split from husband

Singer Paloma Faith has admitted she sometimes feels "alone" following her split with husband Leymen Lachine.

The 42-year-old star split with her former beau a year ago and has previously spoken about pouring her emotions into her sixth studio album - but while on ITV's Lorraine, the singer revealed far more.

Speaking about the creation of her latest album, the mother-of-two was quick to say that it included some "difficult stuff". But she also expressed that she feels lonely at times. As she appeared on ITV's Lorraine, the singer said: "[This is the] first time I'm promoting music about an experience I'm still in. I'm not really doing much acting just literally on set crying, 'have I done the right thing'."

She continued: "My album which is due out next year chronicles all the stages of grief from any loss, you know. It doesn't take much for me to tune into those feelings. When you've got kids with someone it's a completely different story. It's still our family it's just a different shape to what it was before."

She added: "You know at night when you're on your own, your kids have gone to bed and its silent in the night, you're just sitting there and you're like, it can be really... alone."

But it seems as though one thing that helped get her through some of the difficult times, while making her album, was to work with people that she had known from the past – as it felt like "a family."

She said: "It's so amazing. I made the video with Theo Adams who I've known since they were 16 years old and it feels so nice. This whole album im about to promote is all about a project that I've made with people that I've known for years. It feels really nice because its all about some difficult stuff. It's so nice to have worked with people that I have worked with for years. It's like a family."

But this is not the first time the Only Love Can Hurt Like This hitmaker has made her feelings public. Paloma split from Leyman Lahcine last November, after the singer had allegedly told friends at Jonathan Ross's Halloween party that she was single, following five years of marriage.

She then confirmed that they had separated in August this year with an Instagram post. At the time, she told The Sun: "The track listing runs chronologically through the course of a long-term relationship breakdown that involves children, because that’s a very different experience to the cut-and-runs of youth."

Paloma first started dating Leyman in 2013, seven years after she she split from her first husband, Rian Hayes. Although Paloma remained tight-lipped that she and Leyman had tied the knot, her new song Divorce, appears to have confirmed speculation.

Despite making it clear that her album is a nod to the collapse of her marriage, Paloma has been keen to not be too public about the reason behind the split. She has expressed that she worries once her children are older and read reports, it could have a negative impact. She told the publication: "It's a different feeling having kids and knowing they’ll read about it in ten years. I have to be respectful of that because when they’re older they might say, 'F*** you'."
