Captain Sir Tom Moore's daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore opened up about the public's response to the family building a spa in his name.

Earlier this year, Captain Tom's family were slammed after using the Captain Tom Foundation’s name in the planning application to build a £200,000 spa facility at their seven-bedroom Bedfordshire property. In an upcoming interview with Piers Morgan, Hannah, her husband Colin Ingram and their children Benji and Georgia explained they received death threats over their plans.

Hannah revealed: “There is a forum… they were all discussing how they were going to come and kill us all," while her husband added: “We should have done it in a different way.” Speaking about the spa, Piers asks: "Why are you reluctant to get rid of it?", adding: "I've asked this a few times now... I'll give you one last chance."

Grilling the family on their financial affairs in the interview airing on Thursday, the TalkTV host questions: “Neither of you have ever made any money directly from the Foundation for personal gain?” To which Colin replies: "Not a penny." Hannah has been under fire many times in recent years.

In 2021 and 2022, Hannah helped judge the Virgin Media O2 Captain Tom Foundation Connector Awards, which included the name of the charity and the charity's logo on its awards plaques. The daughter of the 100-year-old fundraiser sparked further controversy when it emerged her fee was paid not to the Foundation but to her family company.

Piers asks how much the fee was, to which she replies: “I was paid £18,000 for that." The host asks how much the charity received, and Hannah replies: "£2,000." She then confesses the fallout has been "utterly devastating". Captain Tom shot to fame after walking 100 laps of his garden at the age of 99 to raise money for the NHS.

He set out with a goal to raise £1,000 by his 100th birthday - but ended up topping more than £30million. The World War Two veteran, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, passed away at the age of 100 following a short battle with the coronavirus and pneumonia.

The Captain Tom Foundation was set up by his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore and her husband Colin.
