Big Brother fans praise Hallie's 'mature' response to Farida's question

Big Brother viewers praised Hallie's "mature" response to Farida's questions on Tuesday after she revealed she is a transgender woman to her housemates earlier this week.

During the latest episode, the housemates had to take part in a Big Bed task, where they had to stay in the bed for as long as possible while not leaving it or falling asleep. During the challenge, Farida, 50, said to Hallie, 18: "Can I ask you a few questions, I'm not being rude, I just want educating. You know when you get into relationships?" to which Hallie replied: "I've never been in one!"

Farida continued: "I know you said you've never been in one but imagine you did, right, so you know the men that are attracted to you. Would they be classed as gay?" to which Hallie replied: "I'm a woman. I don't see them as gay, I see them as liking a woman! There's different types of sexualities, I just think, nowadays, people don't like putting labels on things. They just like what they like. But at the end of the day, I am a woman."

Later, Hallie discussed Farida's questions to her fellow housemates, saying: "When she said to me: 'If a man was to be with you would that make them gay?', when she said that to me, I was like: 'No because then that would be calling me a man if they're gay! I am a woman, they're not gay if they like me, I'm a woman.' She was all confused."

To which her fellow housemates pointed out it must be "frustrating" with Hallie admitting: "No, it was, because usually that's when I'm like: 'Okay, you need to chill out babe!'" Later in the episode, Hallie spoke to Farida saying: "I didn't take offence, don't worry, people ask questions but don't mean offence by it. They just want to know, but don't know how to word it correctly. I just try not to jump to conclusions."

To which Farida insisted: "I'd never, ever, the one thing I don't believe in is bullying!" Viewers were quick to praise Hallie for her "mature" response. One person said: "Actually love Hallie, love how mature she is, love how she handling all these questions", while a different account put: "Haille is incredible. She is so mature, honest, open and real #BBUK".

Elsewhere, another fan said: "Fair play to Hallie for answering Farida’s barrage of questions in such a mature and calm manner #BBUK" while a different viewer added: "So much respect to hallie for having a mature convo with farida and not go off at someone who’s trying to learn but saying the wrong thing #bbuk."
