Multiple sex tapes have circulated online allegedly involving health care staff who were working at a Belfast hospital.

The Belfast Trust is now investigating claims that such footage was taken on its premises by members of staff. It was claimed that the sexually explicit material was filmed in an on-call room linked to the City Hospital Cancer Centre, however the trust said this "may not be accurate".

It also said the allegations are being treated with the "utmost seriousness" and that discussions have already taken place with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), reports Belfast Live. A Belfast Trust spokesperson said: "Belfast Trust is aware of sexually explicit material being circulated online which is said to have been filmed on Trust premises and involving Trust staff. We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and have been in discussions with the PSNI about it.

"The allegations about who was involved in the filming of sexually explicit material, and where that filming took place, may not be accurate. We are investigating whether Trust staff were involved and whether any of the sexually explicit material was filmed on Trust premises. If it is the case that any such filming was conducted in Belfast Trust premises then that would be completely unacceptable and appropriate steps will be taken."

In August, the PSNI was rocked by a security breach after the names of all officers and staff were released online in a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. The data was released on the site What Do They Know, which is designed to help people in the UK make FOI requests.

Following the release of the information, Chief Superintendent Sam Donaldson, responded on the site and asked to be called urgently as "Data which is a security breach has been sent into the public domain". Alliance Party leader and former Justice Minister Naomi Long said that the scale of the data breach was of “profound concern”.
