Coronation Street fans left sobbing over Tim Metcalfe's 'brutal death' scene

Coronation Street viewers said they were "sobbing" as they were convinced Tim Metcalfe was dead, after he was brutally attacked by killer Stephen Reid on Monday night.

Actor Joe Duttine could bow out of the ITV soap after 10 years in the role, as scenes in the latest episode saw him lifeless on the ground. While his fate is not known, he certainly looked dead and viewers are fearing the worst, convinced he has been killed off.

After cottoning on to Stephen's killer crimes and discovering a body, Tim was left fighting for survival. In dramatic scenes, he was attacked by Stephen twice, and now he faces death. Stephen strangled him only for Tim to get away, but the killer then hit him over the head with a metal bar.

If that wasn't enough, Tim then tied him up and appeared to suffocate him after he regained consciousness, with Tim left laying with his eyes wide open. At the end of the episode, Tim's body was shown shoved into the boot of his taxi, with Stephen then dousing the car in petrol. Taking to Instagram in the fallout to the shocking twist, fans reacted to Tim's possible demise, and they were not happy about it.

On killer Stephen, one fan said: "dislike the geezer more now he's killed tim." Speaking to The Mirror and other press recently, Tim actor Joe teased whether a death was on the way for his character. While he remained coy over the fate of Tim, he told us viewers should be very worried about him as he may not survive.

He spilled, on whether fans should worry: "I think so, yeah. I like the fact that we don't know what's going on with Tim after Monday's episode and we focus on the story with the Platts instead. I like the fact that we don't know where he is. You almost forget about him. So I think the audience should be worried for Tim."

As for Stephen, the serial killer will attempt to flee Weatherfield as his darkest secrets are finally exposed to residents, including his family. Not only do they realise he's a scammer and he drugged Carla Connor, but he's also revealed to be the killer of Leo Thompkins, Teddy Thompkins and Rufus Donahue.
