Emmerdale resident dumbfounded over Amit Sharma discovery in blackmail twist
Emmerdale's Amit Sharma will have another big secret of his exposed next week, following his big arrival on the ITV soap.
Fresh from the bombshell he's Jai Sharma's biological father, and that Jai and Suni are brothers and not cousins, there's another big reveal it seems. The character is hiding something, and soon his son Suni is torn. Suni ends up revealing Amit's secret to his partner Nicky Miligan, and Nicky is in shock.
Spoilers do not reveal what the secret is, but Amit turns to emotional blackmail towards his son. Suni is left in dismay over his dad's behaviour, when he tries to manipulate him for a mystery reason. Suni is conflicted, and tells Nicky everything. Nicky is astonished by what he finds out about the newcomer, while Suni wants the whole thing to go away.
Later on, Suni’s prickling with unease as Amit tries to play happy families with them all leaving Jai wary. Suni is left panicked though later in the week, when his dad has dinner with Nicky's dad Caleb Miligan, and he's worried certain things will come to light that he is hoping will stay hidden.
Things don't go well though as Amit leaves Caleb annoyed, causing him and Nicky to flee. But Caleb’s intrigued when Nicky hints at Amit having skeletons in his closet, so will he find out the truth?

Emmerdale newcomer Amit Sharma will emotionally blackmail another village character next week (ITV)It comes as the actor playing Amit hinted at what he was hiding. Teasing what Amit is like, amid his involvement in the recent DNA twist, Anil Goutam told us: "I'm really pleased with how it's been written. There are lots of complexities in this guy and the writers have allowed that freedom and they actually spend time talking to me about the character and what my thoughts on it were, as well as their thoughts on him.
"So I guess he's the sort of person who you've only seen one aspect of him and he has a side to him. He's quite dark as he has a darker side to him, but not in his own mind. I don't think [he sees it] in his own mind. He does what he does to protect his family, but it's what he thinks is the right thing to do to protect his family. I think he can convince himself of pretty much anything being the right thing to protect his family."
While he didn't reveal what secrets could be lurking, Anil hinted at what was ahead. He told us: "To me, I think it allows an insight into him, which maybe when you first meet him you probably probably won't [see]. It's not something you would first guess is this person. There is a darker side as as we've just said and I think it's always nice for an actor to explore a darkness. But if it was purely written like that, I don't think it would be much fun because it would be a caricature. It's not written like that, it's written as a complex person."
