Big Brother viewers slam reboot as 'awful' as Davina McCall breaks silence
With the premiere of Big Brother 2023 finally over, viewers have taken to the Internet to share their thoughts on the first live show of the reboot.
The 20th season of the ITVX reality series aired on Sunday night after a five-year-long hiatus from our screens, and surprise, surprise, the revamped show has already been stirring up controversy online.
Conversation heated up after Davina McCall took to Twitter this evening to admit she had 'horrific FOMO' over Big Brother 2023, after hosting the original on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010.
It didn't take long for the 55-year-old's tweet to gain traction, as fans flocked to the replies' section to share their take on the new series hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.
"Great to see normal contestants rather than ‘influencers’ etc - but it feels flat, the colours of the house have given me a headache," one person wrote.

"It's a frantic, rushed, hastily edited, pre-recorded pile in of HM’s," one frustrated person wrote, while another slammed it as "too rushed and over edited with it being pre-recorded."

Another disappointed viewer described the entrance of the housemates into the mansion as "like items being slung down an Aldi checkout."
"It’s awful. I can’t believe it… there’s no life. Pre-recorded, rushed, there’s no commentary as they walk from the car, the big brother voice is wrong," one particularly dismayed fan commented.
Others were quick to lament Davina's absence, taking the opportunity to tell the renowned TV personality how much she was missed on the new show.
"We NEED you back. Nothing will ever live up to your big brother days Davina!" one person commented, while another said, "Not the same without you, Davina!"
Not everyone had such concrete opinions on the new Big Brother though. One person admitted they had yet to make a judgement call from the first episode, because it remains unclear whether or not the latest series will be entertaining.
"Although this is feeling fresh and light hearted, whereas i feel Ch4 and Ch5 went for intensity. ITV BB feels like a different show..! I don't know if that's a good or bad thing yet!"
Davina has clearly been taking note of her fans' feedback, even replying to one message directly which advised her and Rylan to "start a Whatsaap support group." Always one to see the funny side, the My Mum, Your Dad presenter responded, "We have" and added the laughing face emoji for extra effect.
