A British citizen is missing after Hamas attacked a music festival in Israel where he was working, the country's embassy has said.

Jake Marlowe has not been heard from since Saturday morning after he texted his Mum saying everything was okay and that he loved her. Lisa told the Jewish News that she had last heard from her son via text message at around 5:30am on Saturday morning. She said: "He was doing security at this rave yesterday and called me at 4:30am to say all these rockets were flying over. Then, at about 5:30am, he texted to say, 'signal very bad, everything OK, will keep you updated I promise you,' and that he loves me."

Lisa said her son lived in the city Ma'alot, in north Israel, having moved to Israel permanently two years ago. Jake was working in security at a music festival in Kibbutz Re'im, a suburb in the city of Ofakim in Israel's south when the horror unfolded. It has been reported on local news that attackers on motorcycles began firing at attendees and a number of people are now missing.

Tzipi Hotovely, the Israeli ambassador to the UK, earlier told Sky News' Trevor Phillips On Sunday programme that a British citizen is in Gaza - but it is now understood this is not confirmed.
