Glastonbury and Coachella's battle to sign British singer up for headline slot

Two of the biggest music festivals, Glastonbury and Coachella, secured countless record-selling artists to perform on their stage in recent years.

But now that festival season is officially over, bosses are looking ahead and have eyed up some legendary names to headline next year - including one famous singer. Global superstar Dua Lipa has reportedly sparked a bidding war as festival bosses are reportedly fighting to secure her as their headliner next summer.

It comes as the 28-year-old singer prepares for her third album. She described playing at Glastonbury "favourite thing ever" seven years after taking to the John Peel Stage. But the British singer -who has previously collaborated with last year's Glasto headliner Sir Elton John - has a huge decision to make as she considers the two offers.

"Dua loves Glastonbury and when she last played there she described it as her "favourite thing ever'," a source told The Sun. "She knows how huge this opportunity is but it’s also the same for Coachella. Dua has been to both as a punter before and loves everything about them. She feels so honoured and excited to even be considered by organisers."

The news comes as the singer is set to release her highly anticipated third album in early 2024. The source added: "A lot is riding on this album and Dua is pulling no punches. It will cement her as one of the greatest pop stars to ever come out of the UK."

Dua shared details about her new album, saying: "I’ve definitely grown up. Overall, whether it’s sonically or in terms of the themes, I’ve matured. It’s like I’m coming into my power and not afraid to talk about things. It’s about understanding what I want."

DJ and record producer Mark Ronson, who worked with Dua on his 2018 single Electricity alongside Diplo and Silk City, as well as on her latest No1 single Dance The Night added: “I’ve heard some of it and it’s incredible.”

The singer is also set to star in a film, Argylle, alongside actors Henry Cavill and John Cena on 2 February 2024. It comes after her cameo in the blockbuster hit Barbie, featuring Margot Robbie (Barbie), Ryan Gosling (Ken), Michael Cera (Allan), Will Ferrell (Mattel CEO) and more.
