Emmerdale shares first look at deadly crash as characters fight for survival
Emmerdale has released first-look images of the deadly car crash stunt that could leave one or more residents dead next week on the ITV soap.
Cast members Emma Atkins, Lawrence Robb and Jessie Elland spoke to The Mirror and other press about the deadly scenes airing very soon, as new images revealed the moment Chloe Harris loses control of the car she is in with Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd. What follows is a deadly cliff-top crash, with Charity and Chloe pleading with Mack to save them.
Pictures show the moment just prior to their battle for survival, and before the car falls off the cliff edge, as Chloe, Charity and Mack are flung upside down as their vehicle rolls repeatedly, after they are crashed into. It comes as Mackenzie and Chloe are planning to head for a holiday in Scotland, as they plot a permanent move to the country in the coming months.
However, Mack is unaware that Chloe feels horrifyingly betrayed by her fiancé after hearing the conversation he and his ex-wife Charity shared in the Woolpack previously, detailing their one-night stand. Chloe feels optimistic that she can move forward after Mack's betrayal, until she spots the pair looking cosy together.
In scenes next week as Chloe and Mack drop their baby son Reuben off with Matty Barton, the pair head off in the car as she continues to seethe over what he's done. They come across Charity broken down at the side of the road, and Chloe sets her plan into motion.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesShe offers Charity a lift, and it's clear there's a lot of tension between the trio as they head back towards the village. She intentionally misses the correct exit though, planning to drive deep into the moors and abandon Charity and Mack somewhere remote. Things take a devastating turn though, as a car slams into them.
The impact sends them and the car spiralling with new images seeing the trio screaming for their lives. All three characters are thrown around in the car as it tumbles, while the cast playing the trio filmed the special stunt in a gimbal which imitates the vehicle, and the action of it spinning.
What follows in the actual scenes is the car veering off a cliff, with Mack forced to choose who to save first out of a trapped Chloe and Charity. Their fates remain unknown, but the cast members did tease what the scenes were like to film.
Emma told us: "I don't know the actual speed but it was pretty fast. It was like a fairground ride where you're literally in a hamster wheel." Lawrence added: "It was unexpected as well. I laughed during the first take because I was so taken aback by how weird it was being tossed around," while Jessie agreed: "It was so fun. When it was actually happening we were literally like kids in a fairground."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , and .
