Drake has announced he will be taking a break from his music career, as he said he needs to "focus on my health".

The 36-year-old rapper revealed the news to fans on Friday as he said he will be taking time to rest after suffering from stomach issues. "I probably won't make music for a little bit. I'm going to be real with you, I need to focus on my health, first and foremost," he insisted. Drake said he will be using the break "to get right".

Fans were left devastated as he said the hiatus could end up being longer than a year. "I've been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. I’m just saying what it is. So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get [that] right, and I'm going to that.

"I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So, I'ma lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don't even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or something ... maybe a little longer," he said on his SiriusXM show Table for One.

Despite the disappointment, fans were supportive of Drake's decision. Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, one person said: "Honestly he’s overdue for a break, he’s dropped like 29283747 albums this decade alone." Another said: "Health is wealth."

"Okay Drake, take your time to recover," a third fan insisted. Someone else added: "It will do good for him."

The news of Drake's hiatus comes after he released his latest album, For All the Dogs. The record features his second collaboration with singer-songwriter SZA. However, despite previously teasing a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, she does not make an appearance on the album.

Drake also released a music video for his new single 8AM in Charlotte, which featured his five-year-old son Adonis. "All right. Adonis, tell me about your beautiful piece of artwork that you sold me," the rapper said in the video.

His son held up a piece of art and replied: "So the goat was running away from the other monsters. And the other animals. And a flower blocking the way. So the flowers of fire.

"The racing car was maybe helping the goat. And there was this, some stairs who’s like a jail stairs. And there was one person who was on top. And he got killed by the stick by the track." In the clip, Drake then gushed over his son's drawing.
