Hugh Jackman has been given some stark advice amid reports that he's writing a memoir, which is set to address his recent split from wife of 27-years, Deborra-Lee.

In a joint statement to PEOPLE following their split, Hugh and Deborra-Lee said: "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition."

According to US Weekly, the Wolverine actor is currently in the early stages of writing an autobiography, which is set to feature bombshell revelations about all aspects of his life, including his divorce. An alleged insider reportedly said to the outlet: "Hugh is choosing to [write this book] now because he's finally [being] honest with himself [and] the divorce."

"The content will be Hugh speaking about his life. He'll be opening up about his life like never before," the insider added. PR Strategist, Mentor and the Founder of PR with Perkes, Laura Perkes has advised Hugh to "speak from the scar, not from the wound" as he embarks on writing his memoir.

"Celebrities need to walk a fine line when they decide to 'tell all' in their autobiographies, because for most of their career they've painted a certain picture about themselves that they're fans have believed to be true," she exclusively told us. "This image and reputation will have earnt them major roles in TV and film productions, so while integrity is important, the truth needs to be handled sensitively to avoid backlash from angry fans.

"Since the pandemic, people are a lot more comfortable being authentic in their vulnerability because we crave genuine connection and relationships more than ever. Where polished and perfect lives were once applauded, 'realness' is taking over."

Laura added: "The book writing process will take months, maybe even a year, so Huge may need to reflect on the end result before the book is officially published. I imagine it will be a very cathartic process for him to be 'honest with himself' but it's important to speak from the scar, not the wound.

"He's duty bound to protect those around him, so while he's able to be honest with himself, he needs to be mindful that his story isn't necessarily the full story for everyone involved."
