EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has sparked backlash after sharing highly-edited photos of herself on social media, with some fans even condemning the post as 'irresponsible.'

The 30-year-old, best known for playing Lauren Branning on the BBC soap, took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal she'd discovered a new editing app which she claims makes users look "skinny and pretty and young." She punctuated the caption with the word, 'GREAT!', in appears to be an approval of the enhancement feature.

In the first snap of the post, Jacqueline is seen smiling at the camera while holding a cappuccino and wearing a beige, silk blouse and matching skirt. Other photos in the carousal depict the TV actress wearing an array of preppy outfits, including a school uniform and a knit-on-knit look.

While she not disclose the name of the editing app, her apparent endorsement of it hasn't gone down well with her followers. One person wrote, "Ah mannn. You have so many girls and women following you, who battle with their body image. Posting stuff like this doesn't help." This disappointment was echoed by another fan, who commented, "Love most posts from jacjossa. This is really irresponsible on so many levels."

Jacqueline and her husband Dan Osbourne, whom she married in 2017, are the proud parents to two daughters; Ella, 8, and five-year-old Mia. Some fans even mum-shamed the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here winner for her controversial update, with one person suggesting it would have a negative influence on her own children.

"Exactly why I have removed my daughter from all social media platforms currently fixated on fake," they wrote, while another unimpressed person said, "Why would you promote this?"

Not everyone was so quick to chastise Jacqueline, however. A number of people thought the post was amusing, including the soap star's celebrity pal, Vicky Patterson. "Pic 5 is giving Kelly from saved by the bell," the Geordie Shore star wrote, to which Jacqueline graciously replied, "stopppppopppp," with the raising hands emoji.

It was recently announced that Jacqueline would be returning to EastEnders after a four-month-long hiatus from filming. The London actress was off our screens over the summer as her character, Lauren, headed to France to spend time with Peter and their son, Louis.

Speaking about her return to Albert Square in September, Jacqueline confirmed she was "really excited" to be back on set. "It’s such an amazing time to be back as there is so much buzz around EastEnders at the moment, and I’ve been watching and loving it like a fan. Walford holds such a special place in my heart, so it really does feel like coming home," she said.
