COD Next 2023 is set to bring players all the news on the upcoming slate of titles for Activision's FPS series including Warzone Mobile.
Call of Duty fans should be tuning in right about now for details on Modern Warfare 3, the new Warzone map, and Warzone Mobile. Activision has already confirmed what we'll be seeing at COD Next 2023 and there are Twitch Drops to boot so make sure you get your freebies while you can!
The event will also mark 20 years of the iconic series, so if you're a long time fan, get ready to get nostalgic with a look at Modern Warfare 3 and the return of Captain Price. The stream has been going strong for an hour and a half now, with no sign of Warzone so expect it keep on going for a while yet. Last year's was five hours, so strap in if you're in for the longhaul. We've embedded the stream for you below so you can carry on watching
The co-op open-world experience is the focus of Zombies – massive maps, and squads of different sizes. You can even lone wolf it if you're feeling particularly brave/ delusional. The setting is 2021 but the devs are being somewhat secretive about the exact timeline.

Finally, our first look at Modern Warfare Zombies. The trailer is showing off a variety of maps and is being touted as open-world which is a departure from the standard formula. Pre-ordering the Vault edition gets you the Ghost Operator and special gun.
Over an hour into the COD Next 2023 event and there's still no sign of the Warzone map... Zombies is up next.
Cutthroat is a new 3v3v3 mode coming to Modern Warfare 3 that's 'all about elimination' and inspired by Gunfight. It's also available on all 16 launch maps. The new mode is described as super competitive, and unlike Gunfight, you can bring your own loadout with you.
There are over 30 new weapons coming that you can modify with attachments, and over 20 Operators. Attachment tuning is also carrying forward so you can really customise your loadout.
Crimson Fate and Carbon Fate camos will be available in the Modern Warfare 3 Vault Edition, and Operators have their own version of this with Nemesis skins. These are reactive skins that are performance driven so to see the fun effects you need to get those kills. You can check out our Modern Warfare 3 pre-order guide for more details.
This one will be good news for Modern Warfare 2 players. Operators, skins, camos, weapons etc will carry over to Modern Warfare 3.
Time-to-kill is next! There'll be 150 health for players across the board (same as for Warzeon currently) and TTK will be more consistent. Spikes have been simiated by normalising headshot damage and such, so when you put bullets on target you 'get the rythm back' in you gameplay. Hit markers and visuals are part of this, so paired with audio cues yo have more time to evade incoming attacks for more survivability.
Tac-stance was also touched on and lets you choose between accuracy and mobility in different scenarios. You can toggle on and off so if you're not feeling it, you don't have to use it.
Slice-cancel and reload-cancel are back! The devs want players to have those options available as things change moment-to-moment in Call of Duty.
Any unsuppressed weapon fire will show up red on the minimap – classic gameplay on classic maps, essentially.
Perks have been remixes with some new ones debuting, and there are now three perks categories: boots, gloves, and gear. Players will be familiar but loadouts will be 'presented in a new way'.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 and Season 2 will see three new maps each, with 12 total coming over the post-launch seasons. That's in addition to the 16 Modern Warfare 3 maps available at launch.
The COD Next 2023 stream is giving us a peek at five maps including Favela and Highrise. The 14-year-old maps have been revamped and in terms of present day Call of Duty, we're seeing mantling and slide-cancelling make their return.
Day one will see the original Modern Warfare maps as well as new Ground War maps, for the traditionsl 32 vs 32 gameplay rather than 6 vs 6. War Mode is making an appearance and the livestream is teasing a brand new mode that will also be available day one as well as the beta.
We have the greatest set of launch maps coming to Modern Warfare 3 apparently, new mechanics relating to movement, and the largest slate of weapons ever as well. That's a lot of content! We'll be able to get a taste of some of this ourselves in the Modern Warfare 3 beta that starts tomorrow.
