Ukrainian army creates 'invisibility capes' to hide snipers from Russian cameras
Ukraine ’s military has developed “invisibility capes” for its snipers to help them hide from Russian thermal imagery cameras.
The heat-soaking coats, which are also waterproof and lightweight, enable snipers to make themselves invisible to Moscow’s forces. Russia ’s drones have in the past spotted Kyiv’s marksmen and women sneaking up on them during the night, putting them in danger.
It is believed the newly-suppled coats, tested by special forces, will mean Ukraine’s troops are far more difficult to hunt down. Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Innovation, said the capes, called “Brave 1” will be a game changer for Kyiv’s forces.
He said: ”The cloak blocks the radiation of heat and makes the fighters invisible to the enemy. For example it will be for snipers or Special Operations Forces that perform combat tasks. The invisibility cloak is just one of the developments that will help save the lives of our soldiers at the front. Now we need even more.”
Earlier this month a trying to sneak undercover into one of Ukraine’s top secret “drone schools” was seized after a major sting. ’s security service officers caught the man in the centre of downtown Kyiv trying covertly to photograph military positions on behalf of Moscow. He had been recruited online by Russian President ’s FSB spies after posting unsupportive comments on the internet about Ukraine.
Russian model killed after calling Putin a 'psychopath' was strangled by her exMoscow-based spooks then contacted him and recruited him as an agent, telling him to infiltrate a drone school. The man was photographed being frog-marched to jail by two burly wearing balaclavas to hide their identities. Sources told the Daily Mirror the arrest of the 49 year-old man is “hugely significant” as it shows how desperate is to try and destroy Ukraine’s drone war machine.
The insider told us: “Ukraine’s drone schools are expanding and Russia is desperate to try and find out where they are based. They want to undermine the drone attacks as they are having a devastating effect on Russian troops on the frontline.”
