Tommy Fury insists he had impossible 'six month training camp' for KSI

Tommy Fury has made the claim that he's undergone a "six month training camp" for his fight with KSI next week, but the maths don't quite add up.

The Love Island star has catapulted to the top of the influencer boxing space by beating the consensus No.1 Jake Paul, and now looks to take out the other top star in KSI at the AO Arena in his hometown of Manchester on October 14. But his claims about having undergone a lengthy training camp aren't quite making sense.

"I've been sparring people for six months already in preparation for this guy," Fury told KSI during a face-off that was uploaded on September 17, but shot at the launch press conference on August 22. However, that would mean that his camp started before his February 26 fight date with Paul.

Part of the lead-up to Fury's fight with Paul was his difficult training situation due to the recent birth of his daughter Bambi. He immediately left Saudi Arabia after the win in order to get home to his fiancee Molly Mae Hague and their new child, and in a late March interview with Soccer AM he noted that he was spending his time "getting up at 4am and doing the night feeds."

He claimed to be staying in the gym and never looked particularly out of shape. But in a video shot around the same time with Eddie Hall, he joked that he was around 16-stone, or 41lb over the weight he will need to be to fight KSI. "It's a lot of weight," he explained of his physical change. "It's a lot of pizza, a lot of burgers, a lot of doughnuts."

In the video he swapped diets with the massive strongman and ate thousands of calories, joking that his gain was "and counting" before noting that he would be "putting on another 10lb today". If he were in camp, it likely would have been a difficult ordeal to spar as regularly as he says with that much extra weight on.

This summer, Fury also jetted off on a family holiday to Athens with his fiancee and their newborn baby. He had just been to Barbados for a wedding, and spent time in Dubai visiting, making the timeframe he claims logistically very unlikely for his training for KSI.

Meanwhile, his rival only fought in May, a few months after his first round knockout of Faze Temperrr. That activity has to count for something, and will mean that he's spent considerably more time in truly intensive training camp this year than Fury, who only fought once in February before jetting around the world.
