Geri Halliwell snubs Beckham Netflix series premiere to promote new project
Geri Halliwell was nowhere to be seen at the premiere of the Beckham’s new Netflix series in London last night.
While there is no bad blood between her and Spice Girls bandmate Victoria, the 51-year-old was notably absent from the official launch of the documentary, simply titled BECKHAM, which gives a never-seen-before insight into David’s career and life with Victoria.
Instead the Mi Chico Latino singer was pictured in New York as her Red Bull racing boss husband Christian Horner, 49, and 17-year-old daughter Bluebell Madonna showed their support for the Beckhams’ by attending the star-studded premiere.
Donning one of her signature white outfits, Geri revealed she was in the States to promote her new children’s book, Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen, which unfortunately coincided with the launch of the Beckham’s latest project.
She was seen posing at New York landmarks such as the Empire State Building. Geri was also seen being walking through Manhattan’s iconic Time Square before making appearances on Good Morning America and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportGeri has already had success as an author with her Ugenia Lavender stories, but revealed her latest book had been nine years in the making.
The story follows orphan Rosie Frost who is sent to a mystery island where there is not only a school for extraordinary teens, but a sanctuary for endangered species. Geri said the book is about family secrets, shocking betrayals and girl power. “I felt like the world needs a new hero, someone ordinary but finding the courage you never knew you had,” she explained.
Posting on Instagram ahead of her US book tour, Geri told her 1.3million followers: “Dreams do come true. I am SO beyond excited to announce that I am officially going on a book tour in America to bring you all Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen. I cannot wait to meet you all!”
And fans are here for her as the crowds turned out to get Geri to sign copies of her new book – with one even wearing a white outfit that pretty much matched Geri’s. Sharing a video in her Instagram stories, she joked: “You clearly got the memo.”
While Geri and the rest of the Spice Girls – including Victoria, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton – have all gone on to have successful careers since leaving the band, it was recently rumoured they could reform for their 30th anniversary next year.
A headline performance at next year’s Glastonbury had also been rumoured. In a recent interview with Geri shut this down, but teased: "At some point there will be something."
And with Victoria turning 50 next year and the Spice Girls turning 30, it’s been reported a documentary about the band – a bit like the new Beckhams’ Netflix series – could be on the cards.
“The girls have discussed a documentary which would show never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage plus present-day interviews. All five are on board to mark 30 years in some way, shape or form. It’s very exciting,” source told .
