Love Island's Mitchel Taylor mocked by pals after 'going back to normal job'

Love Island star Mitchel Taylor has been the subject of light-hearted teasing from his former villa mates after announcing his return to his pre-show "normal job".

The 27 year old was recently let go by his PR agent following allegations of making "homophobic" comments at a Space NK brand event, accusations he strongly denies in a YouTube video statement. He also refuted claims of "throwing money at a homeless person" during the same event. Taylor then informed fans that he would be resuming his work as a gas engineer before jetting off for a well-deserved break in Rome, Italy.

Sharing photos from his trip, where he was seen enjoying ice-cold drinks in the sun, his villa friends took the opportunity to jest in the comments section. 2023 summer series winner Sammy Root, 22, who reportedly split with girlfriend Jess Harding, teased: "You still got holiday left from work?" Tyrique Hyde, 24, chimed in with: "Ain't you got work??" To which Taylor humorously responded that he'd "called in sick".

Basketball player Zachariah Noble, aged 26, joined in the fun by posting a GIF from the iconic film Gladiator, set in ancient Rome. The jovial banter continued as Josh Brocklebank, a star from a previous series, teased that Mitch would be "back to work tomorrow". A fan humorously asked: "British Gas expanding to Rome?!"

This comes after Mitch reacted to the news that he would return to his job as a gas engineer following his time on Love Island. He took it in stride, joking about it on his Instagram stories. "Tell you what, just returned back to my day job," the star shared with fans during a visit to the Colosseum in Rome. "Really struggling," Mitch added, laughing and grinning.

Last month, an insider informed The Sun that Mitch's PR firm, Neon Management, had decided to part ways with him due to his "Messy Mitch" antics. The source revealed to the publication: "His management have parted ways with him. He's only been out of the villa two months and they can't put up with it."

Mitch also denied allegations of being "homophobic" at a brand event last month and assured his followers that his villa friend Zachariah "had nothing to do" with the incident. Zachariah has also issued a statement strongly denying any involvement.
