AJ Odudu shares a big star slid in her DMs after Big Brother host announcement

TV presenter AJ Odudu has had famous names who have slid into her DMs after she was named the new host for Big Brother alongside Will Best.

AJ joked that despite the heaps of attention online, not all of the messages she received were what she'd been hoping for. The 35-year-old former Strictly contestant revealed she has even received messages from iconic singing duo Jedward, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother both in 2011 and in 2017.

Aj laughed: “Yeah my DMs are popping off — but sadly not in the way I would want them to! But the fans have all been really amazing — seeing so many people have opinions, the buzz, the excitement, the anticipation. I got a message off Jedward — I heard one they sent Will and so I was like ‘Oh! I want one’.” Will added: “Jedward sent me a lovely heartfelt song and they said ‘Sending you all the Jepic energy in the world.’ I’m going to listen to it just before we go on! That’s the last thing I want to hear before the producer in my ear.”

Sharing her excitement ahead of the series starting on Sunday, AJ said: “This is such a big show, it would normally feel like such a daunting thing to take on, but knowing I’ve got Will by my side I’m so excited to get started.” Her pal and co-star Will revealed the show will be 'new and fresh' and won't be the same as it was before.

He said: "Obviously, it’s making sure the parts of the show we all know and love are there, but it’s going to have a new, fresh feel because it’s new, fresh people who are a product of 2023, not 2018, and the world has changed. People are a lot more savvy nowadays.”

Big Brother is set to relaunch on ITV this week, with the first episode announced to air on Sunday 8th October at 9pm. Big Brother: The Launch will air on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX in a disruptive multi-channel and streaming takeover. The remainder of the series will be available nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX - apart from Saturdays.

Big Brother: The Launch will see a new cast of carefully selected housemates, from all walks of life, become the first people to take up residence in the brand-new Big Brother house as they arrive at the famous destination in front of a live studio audience.
