Dancing on Ice announce Olympic icon as fifth contestant for 2024 series
Olympian Greg Rutherford has been revealed as the fifth contestant for Dancing on Ice 2024 on Monday's Good Morning Britain.
The athlete revealed he had been keeping his new role secret from his children, who only discovered he was taking part in the ITV series when he announced the news to GMB's Susanna Reid and Ed Balls. Greg, who won Celebrity MasterChef, also took part in Strictly Come Dancing on the same year that former politician Ed took to the dance floor.
"My kids love dancing around so hopefully they are going to enjoy watching me dance with blades on my feet!", Greg said before he added: "I wasn't very good at dancing last time [on Strictly] so now I thought I'd throw some blades to my feet, throw myself around and have ice beneath me, why not?"
He continued: "I think this is going to be a really different experience but one that's going to be quite exciting. I like a challenge and I've realised over the last couple of years that I've not really been training as much, not been doing as much, been doing a bit of bobsleighing for a while but I needed a reason to get out there and do stuff again.

The Olympian went on to admit: "I'll go 100,000 per cent on this. I'll try hard, I'm in no way expecting to be good but I will work as hard as I can."
The retired track and field athlete dreamt of becoming the first British athlete to win a medal at a summer and winter Olympics, but he and his four-man team missed out on selection for GB’s bobsleigh squad in 2022 having failed to hit the qualifying standard for the Winter Games in Beijing.
Greg is the fifth celebrity to be announced, joining the previously announced World Champion Boxer Ricky Hatton MBE, actress Claire Sweeney, actress and singer Hannah Spearritt and West End star Amber Davies.
