Unsettling encounter with 'ghost' who 'yelled oi and hurled stone' at explorers

A ghost allegedly chucked a stone at paranormal experts when they entered a cave where a hermit used to live. Tony Ferguson and Jacqueline Dixon were spooked out by the scenario.

The eerie cavern, called Snib’s Cave or Bennane Cave, is 100ft long by 20ft wide and is 30ft high in places inside. A hermit called Henry Ewing Torbet, aka Snib Scott, lived there for three decades until he died in 1983, aged 71. He is said to have only left the cave to hunt rabbits and trade his wares. Tony, 38, visited the cave near Lendalfoot, southwest of Glasgow, Scotland.

His team were also told to leave the cave by male voices. They think up to three adult ghosts were there. Tony said they also heard a child speaking in the deserted cave. He said: “We had heard that people entering the cave had experienced paranormal activity, so wanted to check this out for ourselves.

“We conducted some experiments where we held lone vigils in the caves to see if we could get different responses. A stone was thrown at one point. We heard an elderly gentleman say, ‘Oi’. We also heard what sounded like a child's voice... all of these were captured on camera.

“Overall, there were many things that we cannot explain, and we were quite shocked by the amount of activity we caught, as we were not in the cave for very long.

Tony, of Lymington, Hampshire, a personal trainer by day, has been hunting ghouls for 15 years. He visited the spooky cave on September 21.

Last month, we reported how a young couple felt they had no choice but to look for a new home after catching a ghostly figure walking past their daughter's crib.

Mum Heather Brough had woken her one-year-old baby Lily Higgins from a nap and taken her downstairs when she found three deep 'purple scratches' on her cheek. Heather, who was living with her partner Josh Higgins, at his mum Kris' guesthouse claims the unexplained injuries prompted them to check the baby camera to see if she had scratched herself while sleeping. But when they reviewed the footage, they discovered a male figure briskly walking past Lily's cot before disappearing into thin air.

The pair ended up actively looking for a new home to get away from the 'haunted' property - after investigators confirmed the house had 'paranormal activity'. Kris claimed the former owner of the home was an elderly lady who lay with a broken hip for 'a very long time' until she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs. Her brother lived in the guesthouse until his death some years later.
