Les Dennis's four-word response to Strictly bosses as fans fume over his exit

Les Dennis, 69, kept his message to Strictly Come Dancing bosses short but sweet following his exit from the BBC competition earlier this evening.

Fans of Les are livid with the voting public cutting the comedian's time on the show short this weekend, with many Strictly fans taking to social media to share their outrage over the former Family Fortunes presenter being the first celebrity contestant to get the chop from this year's series.

Many Strictly fans feel Les should have stayed on the show a little long for entertainment purposes, but the man himself was very gracious after judges opted to save Nikita Kanda and her dance partner Gorka Márquez . "I’ve had the best time, this lady has been amazing, a great teacher, she’s really put me through my paces. (To Nancy) I did as well as I could for you, I hope!" Les told host Tess Daly earlier this evening.

"That lot up there, I’m going to miss you so much. I really appreciate and understand the judge’s point of view, thank you so much (To Shirley ) for giving me a 10 for entertainment. I hope I’ve entertained, that’s what I came here for." "Strictly is the best and the people who put this on," Les continued as he addressed the Strictly bosses, "you’re just all amazing!"

When Tess asked Nancy on how it had been teaching Les how to dance, the Strictly professional replied: "It’s been a journey. This is such a short but a sweet journey. A lot of challenges we all know, but to see you (to Les) every day improve yourself. I respect you so, so much. I just want to say thank you to the judges and all my fellow friends. Thank you Strictly Come Dancing for all of your support. Thank you Les."

After learning the results of the public vote during tonight's show, Nikita Kanda and her dance partner Gorka Márquez performed their Charleston to Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) by Beyoncé as they battled it out against Les. Luckily for Nikita and Gorka, Les and Nancy's second Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation didn't do enough to keep them in the competition.

Fans watching at home were gutted to see Les go, with many taking to Twitter (aka X) to share their disappointment. " Les Dennis came away looking like a thoroughly decent person, willing to try, and can present an enjoyable dance. I'm sad he's gone. #Strictly," one tweeted earlier this evening.

Another added: "Full credit to @LesDennis for giving the show a go and never giving up. He's very entertaining and he gave both of his dances his best shot. Having fun and trying your best is exactly what the show is all about. #Strictly." A third mused: "Wrong decision. Was Les Dennis the best dancer? No. Was he the most entertaining? Absolutely. Sad to lose him so early on. Deserved longer. #Strictly."
