Les Dennis' Strictly Come Dancing exit has sparked a heated discussion about voting amongst viewers on social media this evening.

The former Family Fortunes presenter, 69, saw his time on the show come to an end tonight, with the Scouse funnyman and his professional dance partner Nancy Xu sent home after dancing for the judges for a second time following the duo finding themselves in the dreaded bottom two.

After learning the results of the public vote during tonight's show, Nikita Kanda and her dance partner Gorka Márquez performed their Charleston to Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) by Beyoncé as they battled it out against Les. Luckily for Nikita and Gorka, Les and Nancy's second Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation didn't do enough to keep them in the competition.

Fans watching at home were livid to lose Les so early on in the competition, with many admitting Les may not have been the best dancer but deserved to stay on the show a little while longer. Some viewers compared the Liverpudlian comic to former Strictly stars like Ed Balls and Tony Adams, who all got through several rounds during their time on the series despite not having the fanciest footwork. Others noted how entertaining acts like Les usually last at least a couple of weeks, even if they can't master the Samba.

"Feel a bit sorry for Les. Sure he's not a good dancer...but could have improved which is what the show should be about. Plus, choreography and costume almost seemed to be designed to ensure his swift elimination. #strictly," one viewer penned on Twitter/X as the Sunday Results show aired.

"You people let Ed Balls stay for weeks and got rid of Les Dennis as soon as you could. FFS #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing," another fumed, with a third also taking aim at the voting public as they tweeted: "we need to ban #Strictly voters from next year's General Election.

"There's not a huge point evicting Les Dennis after a week because he can't dance when presumably he was recruited for the show knowing he can't dance quite as well as a dozen stage school kids. #Strictly," one of Les' fans quipped, with another disappointed Strictly viewer musing: "Anne Widdecombe has lasted longer in strictly than Les Dennis.. Just let that sink in #Strictly."

Speaking about his time on Strictly after getting the axe from the judges this evening, Les told host Tess Daly: "I’ve had the best time, this lady has been amazing, a great teacher, she’s really put me through my paces. (To Nancy) I did as well as I could for you, I hope! That lot up there, I’m going to miss you so much. I really appreciate and understand the judge’s point of view, thank you so much (To Shirley) for giving me a 10 for entertainment. I hope I’ve entertained, that’s what I came here for. Strictly is the best and the people who put this on, you’re just all amazing!"

When Tess probed Nancy on how it had been teaching Les how to dance, the Strictly professional replied: "It’s been a journey. This is such a short but a sweet journey. A lot of challenges we all know, but to see you (to Les) every day improve yourself. I respect you so, so much. I just want to say thank you to the judges and all my fellow friends. Thank you Strictly Come Dancing for all of your support. Thank you Les."
