Gogglebox viewers fume as Channel 4 programme 'filled with TV spoilers'
Gogglebox viewers were fuming after watching Friday night's episode on Channel 4. Fans of the show weren't happy with the number of "spoilers" featured in the most recent episode as friends and families watched the week's TV.
Clips from Sex Education, the Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and Blankety Blank were featured in tonight's show, but some viewers were not happy with the producers. Some vented their frustrations on X, formally known as Twitter.
One viewer complained: "I do love #Gogglebox, BUT, bloody hell, the 'spoilers' proper p**s me off sometimes! I know, I know, it's my own fault for not watching stuff quicker 'n that, BUT, for f**k's saaake!" While another wrote: "Gogglebox is the biggest spoiler show in the world."
A third penned: "I know the ending now though…. Gogglebox gave spoilers." Someone else was quick to comment, defending the popular programme on Channel 4: "Gogglebox shows the weeks TV so yes Spoilers, not rocket science." The complaints came as Gogglebox viewers were introduced to two new faces, Elaine and Seb. Audiences quickly voiced their approval, with one viewer expressing on Twitter: "Liking them already, can't wait to see more of them on the show."
Another ardent fan welcomed them to the Gogglebox family, while another commended their performance, stating, "They're doing a grand job." During the episode, Elaine and Seb discussed his impending graduation and Elaine shared her thoughts on her outfit for the significant event.
Gogglebox star shows off three stone weight loss in impressive year apart snapsThe arrival of Elaine and Seb comes after the departure of Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig, who had been part of the show for ten years. A statement issued by Channel 4 and Studio Lambert last week read: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show."
"As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years. We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."
Stephen also shared a statement on Instagram: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.
"We would like to thank both Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course, the fans, thank you for all of your love and support over the years."
