Strictly Come Dancing almost had Piers Morgan on the dancefloor, he claims.

The broadcaster who has for a long time been at the centre of rumours surrounding the line-up for the BBC dancing competition has finally addressed the speculation. However, fans won't be seeing him showcasing his best Tango any time soon.

Piers, 58, is no stranger to dramatic television shows, having stormed off Good Morning Britain following a row with Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle's tell-all with Oprah Winfrey. He's also appeared on both Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent and even been jokingly strangled by Sharon Osbourne during a clash.

But the dad-of-four has confirmed he won't be accepting any offers from Strictly in the near future. Piers revealed he won't be dancing on national television for anything less than £1million.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "Strictly asked me last year. There wasn't enough money. If you want me to humiliate myself on a dance floor, I was offered $150,000 (£122,940) by Dancing With The Stars in America when I was doing America's Got Talent. And I said, 'Come back to me if it's $1.2million (£983,526). They haven't come back yet."

Piers appeared on America's Got Talent between 2006 and 2011 as a main judge from the launch episode to series six. He later returned to the programme in 2015 as a guest judge for season 10 of the show, alongside Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Mel B and Heidi Klum.

But while Piers may have declined an offer to appear on Strictly last year, the show was won by BBC star Hamza Yassin who was partnered with Jowita Przystał. Despite appearing at the bottom of the leaderboard on December 18, they were announced as the winners of the series, having competed alongside the likes of Kaye Adams and Helen Skelton.

Piers, who is never shy of being outspoken, recently expressed his outrage over Laurence Fox's "disgusting" rant on GB News, before he was suspended by the network. The ex-husband of singer, Billie Piper, 45, called political correspondent, Ava Evans, a "little woman" before asking host Dan Wootton "who'd want to s**g that?" in an extraordinarily offensive exchange.

After the interview aired, Ava, who appeared on BBC's Politics Live on Monday to talk about men's mental health, took to X, formerly Twitter, saying: "Laurence Fox just did a whole speech on GB News on why men apparently won’t s**g me". Piers replied: "Ava is a very talented journalist and delightful person. Fox is a disgusting piece of misogynist trash."
