Bruce Springsteen was devastated to announce the cancellation of the rest of his 2023 tour dates as he continues to suffer from ill health.

The Born In The USA star, 73, confirmed he has had to cancel all of his September shows with E Street Band after falling ill with peptic ulcer disease. His team confirmed that following the recent cancellation of his Philadelphia concerts on August 16 and 18 at Citizens Bank Park they were "working on rescheduling the dates" and they were subsequently moved to 2024.

But now it has been revealed that all his remaining 2023 gigs will also be changed as the singer continues to face health issues. Breaking the news on Twitter, his team wrote: "Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor's advice."

Now, a medical expert has warned of a number of key symptoms that shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to the disease. According to Bupa, peptic ulcers are "sores that can develop in your gastrointestinal tract (GI tract), including your stomach".

Speaking to The Mirror, Dr. Kenneth Brown, a gastroenterologist in Plano, Texas, said: "Around 70% of ulcers can be asymptomatic, so severe and life-threatening problems can show up, and when told an ulcer caused these issues most people admit to stomach aches that were being ignored."

He continued: "People can present with black stools due to an intestinal bleed high up in the digestive tract, which if turns red is a massive bleed."

Discussing possible symptoms people leave undetected, Dr Brown, who is also the host of the Gut Check Project podcast, added: "Early satiety and bloating are symptoms that often get ignored. If this progresses and blocks the stomach outlet it is called gastric outlet obstruction (GOO). This causes unexplained weight loss and persistent vomiting.

"Then the scary stuff can happen which are perforations and fistulas. A perforation is when the ulcer does a full-thickness hole, which generally is an emergency to prevent sepsis. The weird one is fistulisation. This is where the hold gets walled off by another organ and the stomach or small bowel drains directly into the organ which can be the small bowel, the liver, bile duct, blood vessels and pancreas."

It's unclear to what extent Bruce's condition is currently at, but his statement concluded: "I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year."
