Ava Evans shares detail of Laurence Fox's rant that made her 'most sick'
Ava Evans has revealed what made her "most sick" about Laurence Fox's vile remarks on GB News, following news that the conservative broadcaster has been suspended from the station.
Appearing on Dan Wootton Tonight on Tuesday, Fox launched into a lengthy tirade about the Politics JOE journalist during a discussion on previous comments she'd made on men's mental health.
The 45-year-old called Evans "a little woman" and accused her of being "spoon-fed oppression," before ending his rant by asking, "Who'd want to shag that?"
After declaring, "we're past the watershed," Fox continued: "Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman, ever, ever, who wasn’t an Incel?"
He then said, "We need powerful strong amazing women who make great points for themselves, we don’t need these sort of feminist 4.0… they’re pathetic and embarrassing."
Andrew Bridgen threatens to sue Matt Hancock over Covid vaccine comments rowFox has since been suspended by GB News and host Dan Wootton has issued a grovelling apology to Evans, before admitting he's "devastated" to have left his team down.
Evans later took to Twitter to respond to Fox's comments, revealing they left her feeling "physically sick." She has now elaborated on the incident and described which part of the story upset her the most. Speaking on Politics Joe's 'Pubcast' podcast, she told co-host Ed Campbell that this is "network problem" and called out GB News for their handling of the segment.
"This is a presenter, guest, gallery, production issue, that has nothing to do with me," she said. "I just so happen to be the person they're talking about. But I'm not in the conversation. I wasn't present for it. I didn't ask. I wasn't given a comment, a right to reply, anything. It's not to do with me. I'm just a commodity in this story. I'm just a vehicle for content. And that's the bit that makes me feel most sick."
Elsewhere on the podcast, Evans claimed that Wootton had called her several times the previous night after the New Zealand presenter had been given her phone number by another woman.
Ofcom has since confirmed it has received a number of complaints regarding Fox's comments about Evans and has promised to "publish the outcome" of its assessment of them as quickly as possible. GB News announced on Wednesday afternoon that it had suspended Dan Wootton and "are conducting a full investigation."
