Meghan Markle is reportedly opposing her husband Prince Harry's "desperate" desire to return to his home in the UK after he was recently denied a room at the Windsor Castle during his last visit, according to an insider.

The Duke of Sussex was reportedly denied a request to stay at the castle this month when he jetted off to London for the WellChild Awards before travelling to Germany for the Invictus Games. Prince Harry is said to have asked if he could stay in a room at the Windsor Castle so he could visit the Queen's resting place at St. George's Chapel on the anniversary of her passing, but his request was reportedly rejected due to there not being enough space on short notice.

This ordeal is said to have since led Prince Harry to become more keen on having a home base in the UK, but according to an insider, Meghan is not interested in the idea.

The source told The Sunday Times: "Not having anywhere isn’t overly helpful. There are friends and hotels, but I know they would like to have somewhere." They added: "There is work to be done here in terms of the charities, and there would be opportunities in the future where he’ll want to be here a bit more.”

After the couple left the Royal Family to start a new life together in California, the couple originally kept their UK home in Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate. The property was initially gifted to them by the Queen, but earlier this year the pair were served an eviction notice and told they needed to hand their keys back over to King Charles.

The insider told the news outlet: "If they could have kept Frogmore, they would have done — it was the perfect setup for them. When he last stayed there, he did a whole load of clearing out, and he was sanguine about it but pretty sad.”

It has also been reported that Prince Harry is required to "give notice" to his father any time that he or family wants to stay on any royal properties. As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle struggle to find somewhere to stay next time they pay a visit to the UK, Buckingham Palace has denied claims that accommodation was being considered for the Sussexes' at the royal residence.

However, Royal aides have said that temporary accommodation could be available to Prince Harry if he were to visit the UK in the future if he gives a good amount of advanced notice due to King Charles' decision to keep his son as one of his Councillors of State.
