Netflix's Sex Education is back for its final season, having kept fans gripped with the dramatic lives of characters like Otis, Maeve, Eric and Connor, to name a few.

As well as the plotlines, fans have been won over by the gorgeous town and countryside landscapes which form the backdrop of the drama. It comes as no surprise to Brits therefore that those picture-perfect forests and vistas are actually in the UK. In fact, the bulk of filming took place on location at a host of beautiful hotspots in Wales, around the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

The best part is that some of the locations are real-life holiday lets, so you can enjoy a staycation right in the beautiful settings. For a start, there's the incredible house where (Asa Butterfield) and his mother Jean (Gillian Anderson) live.

Located in the Wye Valley, The Chalet Symonds Yat East was transformed into a holiday rental in 2020 after the owner said they received hundreds of requests for stays from around the world because of the hit show.

Guests can have breakfast on that incredible outdoor terrace, explore the house and see the exact locations where iconic scenes took place, or simply make the use of the incredible outdoors with the countless walking trails and cycling paths to be found. When we took a look the chalet is fully booked until at least January 2024, although we did find some four-night breaks - although they were going from over £3,000 to book out the whole property. For the fourth season, Netflix has revealed its producers originally struggled to find somewhere that would be fitting for Cavendish college. As a result, the college exteriors are actually filmed at St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff.

And while Maeve may have headed to a prestigious course in the USA, her school is actually still in the UK, with locations used at Westonbirt School near Bristol to create her US home.

As for the farm where Adam works, this is a real-life farm, Werngochlyn Farm - and you can book cosy cottages for holidays on the property, some of which even boast perks such as hot tubs. (You can find out more here).

If you are in the area, there are heaps more opportunities to discover the show's locations, with many spots open to the public. For example, the Wireworks Bridge in Tintern is the same bridge which Otis and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) cross to go to school, while the nearby town of Llandogo was used for scenes including in the first season when Maeve (Emma Mackey) went to buy some medical equipment.

Other highlights in the area which doubled up as locations include Redbrook Bridge, Brockweir Bridge, Fedw Wood, Dean Forest Railway and the town of Monmouth, all of which were used for multiple scenes.

Meanwhile, the Blistors Farm's Bull Pen in the Wye Valley doubled up as the house of Ola (Patricia Allison) and her father Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt), and it even boasts a private hot tub and a quirky Tardis in the garden.

Another filming location that's well worth a visit is Margam Country Park and Castle, a 19th century Tudor Gothic mansion which doubles up as the military school where Adam (Connor Swindells) spent some time. The mansion is usually often to the public for tours, and also boasts some pretty landscaped gardens and an orangery, so it can make for a fun day out. You can plan your visit on the Margam Country Park website.

Filming also took place on private properties, such as the Bigsweir House which served as Aimee's home, while the Sterrett Caravan Park in Ross-on-Wye is where you'll find Maeve's home.

Season two also saw some extra locations used such as the Newport International Sports Village which doubled up as the school's sports facilities for scenes with Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling), while the school running track was actually located at Cwymbran Stadium.

The town of Newport itself was also used for various scenes including former pub Fairwater House which doubled up as the Spice Inn.

As for season three, various Welsh locations were also used, as reported by our sister site WalesOnline.

For example a retro-looking bowling alley in Tonyrefail, Rhondda Cynon Taff, served as the backdrop for scenes of the gang in the third episode, while Penarth seafront was the setting for scenes where Maeve and Aimee took a stroll, and Wintour's Leap is where Jackson and Cal hang out over looking the valley.
