British racing fans can expect plenty of satisfaction when they head to Paris for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe this weekend.

The ‘rock star’ trainer Nicolas Caullery has been booked to entertain the visitors after racing at Longchamp on Saturday.

With his long hair, sunglasses and flamboyant dress, Caullery is the lead singer of the band Elektrik Monday whose repertoire features classic hits from British bands like the Rolling Stones and the Police.

Yet by day the Frenchman is a Group 1-winning racehorse trainer with a stable of 60 racehorses who is hoping to plunder another big race victory at one of Europe’s richest racing weekends.

“I live with my passion with the racing, but the music is also my passion,” he told Sky Sports Racing. “When I am on the stage I am another person and I live my dream.

“Mick Jagger is my favourite. We play rock and fun pop to give a positive vibe. It’s an amateur band, but like a professional.”

Caullery started training in 2011 with just one horse. He registered his best score in 2016 training 49 winners and made his Group race breakthrough in May this year.

Then in August he registered his first Group 1 success when King Gold beat a host of British-trained sprinters in the Prix Maurice de Gheest.

The six-year-old will try to add to his big race haul in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday.

‘It’s a big year for me because we won a Group 3, another Group 3 and a Group 1 in the same season in two months,” he said. “It’s amazing.

“We [Elektrik Monday] will be in Longchamp the Saturday night and the day after I will come for the Group 1 with King Gold.

“We will play a big concert for the English public. I will sing and everyone will dance."
