Strictly's Bobby Brazier claims Costa changed his life after chance encounter
Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier has revealed the secret behind his meteoric rise to fame - and it all stems from a chance meeting with a modelling casting agent.
The 20-year-old star, who is the eldest son of the late reality TV star Jade Goody and presenter Jeff Brazier, explained that a casting agent gave him his card outside his local Essex Costa Coffee shop. Bobby, who is a favourite to win the show, explained that he was forced to meet his dad at the coffee shop after getting in trouble at his private school.
And purely by chance, a modelling casting agent was also in the same coffee shop and ran outside as Bobby was leaving and gave him his card.
Reflecting on how his life has changed, Bobby who has walked the catwalk for high-end brands such as Dolce and Gabbana, said: "On the way out of Costa, the casting agent ran up behind me and gave me his card. Then I went into this meeting with my headmaster with a big smile on my face." Bobby, who also stars in EastEnders as Freddie Slater, admitted that despite his dad being in a privileged position to send him to a fee-paying school, he found it hard to settle in. He said: "At private school, everyone comes from the same generationally rich families but my parents didn't. I've got insight from both ends of the spectrum, so I felt like I was a bit of a black sheep."
But the star, who has become a national favourite, moved to Brighton and instead attended a local state school - but unfortunately, he suffered a similar type of treatment from his classmates. He added: "I was ripped to s**t, every day by the lads in my class, it was like they envied me and they wanted to pick on every single thing I did. As soon as I joined, the whole school knew who I was. I didn't clock it as jealousy until I left a year later. At the time, I would just ask myself 'Why don't I fit in?'."
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessBobby has a younger brother, Freddie, but unlike the EastEnders star, Freddie has shunned the spotlight and recently Jeff spoke out about how his splitting his attention between the pair. Taking to Instagram, Jeff wrote: "Our Bob has quite rightly received a lot of love and kindness this week but there is nobody more proud of him than his brother Fred. All 3 of us love the world of healing and conscious mindfulness so while the eldest is off into the world of Strictly, Freddy and I had a great day trying new things like getting covered head to toe at this Mud bath ceremony!”
Jeff was left emotional earlier this month after Bobby won the National Television Award for Rising Star. And it was Bobby's acceptance speech that made Jeff break down in tears. Bobby walked on to the stage to accept his award and said: "This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad. Over the course of the last twenty years, I have consistently heard him say 'because I can'. It was a mantra or a moto of his, and him just saying that it's... Because I can!"
Earlier this month the actor made This Morning host Holly Willoughby blush after he made an X-rated joke. The star was asked: "This weekend, the big first live show, are you allowed to tell us anything?" And he said: "I think it's either going to go really good or really badly.'
Sat on the sofa with his dance partner Dianne Buswell, she said: "He only knows one style at the moment. But I think that style is what he will be best at. Bobby has a natural groove to him and great charisma." Holly added: "I reckon he would have been drawn to the Latin," as Dermot added: "yeah...the hips." And it was at this point Bobby responded: "The thrusting!"
