An application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office obtained by The Mirror reveals that Taylor Swift is attempting to trademark 'Swiftmas' before the holiday season.

The trademark, if approved, would allow Taylor to use the logo and words for paper goods which can include journals and stationary. Additionally, the trademark covers clothing such as tops, bottoms, and headwear. Taylor's application was filed on Sept. 15, 2023, but she has previously obtained the trademark in previous years.

Swiftmas is a reference to a virtual event that Taylor hosted during her 1989 era. She used the holidays as an opportunity to give gifts back to her fans affectionately called Swifties.

Taylor would personally select fan accounts and mark them with an emoji. Fans were confused, but also excited since, at the time, they didn't know what to expect. She surprised them with personalised presents sent to their house in FedEx packages which she remarked as 'SwiftEx' to celebrate the holiday season. Fans received an array of gifts including a necklace or a candle wrapped by Taylor herself.

After Swiftmas, one fan told Billboard: “There’s no one in the music industry who has a big of a heart as she does. You can tell that she wrapped all the gifts personally. She uses a ridiculous amount of tape.”

She added: “I think this is her saying that she recognises and really appreciates that. She’s trying to really interact with her fans as much as possible now... It’s just starting to dawn on me that the person who sent me all these gifts is the same person who tours the world and sells multimillion albums and… Oh my gosh."

Over the years, Taylor has released a handful of Christmas songs including covers like Last Christmas, Santa Baby, Silent Night, and White Christmas. Those covers were released while under her old management, Big Machine, but fans were thrilled when Taylor released an original song, Christmas Tree Farm, independent of Big Machine in 2019. The track centres around her experience growing up on a Christmas tree farm in small town Pennsylvania.

It has not yet been revealed if Taylor plans to use this trademark or in what way. However, with the upcoming release of 1989 (Taylor's Version) a revisit to Swiftmas would certainly be reminiscent of the era.
