Shakira has seemingly taken another swipe at ex Gerard Pique after casting the nanny he allegedly fired without pay in her latest music video.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer featured Lili Melgar, who helps look after the two young sons she shares with the Spanish footballer, in her video for new track El Jefe ‘The Boss’, which she sings in Spanish with Mexican band Fuerza Regida.

As well as popping up in a surprise cameo in the music video, Lili also appears to get a mention in the song as Shakira sings the words: ‘Lili Melgar. This song is for you, they didn’t compensate you.” Nanny Lili was reportedly fired without compensation after telling Shakira of her husband’s alleged infidelities. The Mirror has approached Shakira’s reps for further comment on this story.

Shakira, 46, and Gerard, 36, confirmed they had split last summer following 12 years together. Gerard has since denied any affair, but is now in a new relationship with 23-year-old Spanish Shakira lookalike Clara Chia Marti.

And it’s not the first time Shakira has used her music to apparently take aim at her ex since they split. His new lover seemed to be targeted in Shakira’s song with Bizarrap in which she sings the lyrics ‘I’m worth two 22s’ in a clear jibe at Clara, who was 22 when she is believed to have started dating Gerard.

In what could be another swipe, Shakira reportedly told Mexican journalist Enrique Acevedo: “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.” The star also shared a clip to social media of her singing along to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill on Valentine’s Day as she lip-synced the lyrics "I might kill my ex".

But Gerard, who shares sons Milan and Sasha with Shakira, is not the only one to move on since their messy split. She has been linked to Canadian rapper Drake after they were spotted at a party together and it has been claimed she is dating Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton.

She now lives in Miami, where she moved to “start a new life” in the US, after being awarded full custody of her two children. It is also where some of her family members are based. While ex Gerard still lives in Barcelona.

It has been claimed that Shakira and Gerard were in an “open relationship for years” before their marriage broke down. Spanish broadcaster José Antonio Avilés claimed: "There is an agreement where 'you do what you want and I do what I want', but in the face of the media we are still a couple."

Shakira dropped the ultimate bombshell when she claimed that while her father William Mebarak was gravely ill, she discovered that Gerard had allegedly been unfaithful to her, something he has always denied.

Speaking to People en Español, she said at the time: "Everything happened at once, my home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU."

Taking to Instagram in June 2022 she announced their split saying: "We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding."
