Sir Rod Stewart was "very pleased" to put Russell Brand "in his place" after the comic boasted about sleeping with the singer's daughter, Piers Morgan has claimed.

Appearing via video link on Piers Morgan Uncensored alongside her family on Wednesday night, Sharon Osborne discussed the allegations against Brand with the former Good Morning Britain presenter. Sharon, husband Ozzy and their children Jack and Kelly had joined Piers on his show to promote their new podcast series.

Piers kicked off the conversation saying "Let's talk about some stuff that's happening in the news", before going on mention Brand's name and the allegations against the comedian, which he strongly denies. In an explosive Channel 4 Dispatches documentary Russell Brand: In Plain Sight , which was made in conjunction with The Times and Sunday Times and aired on Saturday night, Brand, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse - which the comedian vehemently denies.

"Sharon, what do you make of this story? You know Russell Brand," Piers asked the mum-of-three at the start of their interview, to which Sharon replied saying she is "always on a women's side" as she "loves women", but "you want to hear details and about everything involved."

The former X Factor judge continued: "The only thing I can say about Russell Brand... There's two things I don't like; when he spoke about – one of them is a very good friend of our's – Kimberley Stewart, about what he had done to Kimberley Stewart in front of her father and he did the same with Sir Bob Geldof."

The incident Sharon was seemingly referring to took place the GQ Man of the Year Awards in 2006, when Brand made a crude joke about Rod's daughter Kimberley Stewart. As he collected the Most Stylish award, Brand joked: "Here’s to Rod Stewart who had a go at me earlier this year for too much womanising but then again I did have a go on his daughter."

Rod reacted to Brand's comments later in the evening when he accepted his Outstanding Achiever award in recognition of his career in music. Standing on stage as he collected his gong, Rod ordered Brand to "stand up" as he asked the comic: "You went with my daughter, did you?"

Brand seemingly retracted his original statements, claiming "I never touched that girl" during the exchange with Rod. Maggie May singer Rod hit back, telling Brand: "“F***ing right, you didn’t. You mustn’t come up here and boast. I speak here as a father."

Speaking to Sharon and her family on Wednesday night, Piers continued the discussion and revealed: "Well I was there when he boasted about having slept with Kimberley Stewart and Rod Stewart was there – it was the GQ Awards 2006 – and Rod Stewart went up on stage and absolutely took him down and he called him out and he said, 'you do not boast about something when you've not done it' and Rod, afterwards, he was very pleased to have put him in his place and he said it was really disgraceful. I think with Russell Brand there's always been a lot of embellishment as well as a lot of boasting."

Sharon added: "You just don't do that to people's families when that father is in the room, he's done it twice and that's the thing that sticks with me. But this situation he's going through right now I don't know details so I can't comment on it."

Speaking to his social media followers via a video also shared on YouTube ahead of Dispatches airing on Saturday, Brand denied allegations made against him and said: "I’ve received two extremely disturbing letters, or a letter, and an email, one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like, my community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn’t be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel, but amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.

"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very very promiscuous. Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I’m being transparent about it now as well, and to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal, that I absolutely deny, makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
