Heidi Klum has defended her decision to model lingerie in photoshoots alongside her daughter Leni Klum, having expressed gratitude over their "beautiful relationship".

The model, 50, prompted a backlash when photos of her alongside her eldest child Leni, 19, in a modelling campaign were shared on social media last year. They were seen showcasing lingerie for the brand Intimissimi in posts.

More recently, Heidi and Leni promoted a new campaign for the lingerie brand on Instagram in May this year. Photos from the campaign once again showed them posing beside each other whilst they modelled lingerie.

It was reported at the time that the photoshoot was met with some criticism, similarly to the previous posts of the pair promoting lingerie. Criticism of the collaboration had reportedly previously included that it was "inappropriate".

The more recent photos are said to have prompted one person to comment on social media that it look "weird", while another person reportedly suggested earlier this year that they would "feel embarrassed and sad" if they were Heidi. The America's Got Talent Heidi however has shared her thoughts on working with her daughter Leni on modelling jobs. She spoke about the experience in an interview with the Daily Mail while promoting the NBC talent show.

Heidi said that it's been "fun," with her then adding: "To do photoshoots together with her and just to see how she's just very comfortable and also comfortable around me even when we're doing underwear shoots or something like that."

The model - who has graced the cover of magazines like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Sports Illustrated in her career - further commented that she is "proud" that her daughter is confident enough to pose alongside her in photoshoots.

She said: "It makes me proud that my daughter is super comfortable in her skin also in front of me and around me because not every kid is in the world." Heidi concluded: "So, I love that we have this beautiful relationship."

Leni herself previously addressed the criticism, having told PageSix last year: "I am overall happy with the campaign and I had an amazing day with my mom. I think the photos turned out great." She added that Heidi is an "inspiration".
