Orland Bloom has followed his wife Katy Perry in returning to social media following the allegations surrounding Katy's ex Russell Brand.

The comedian, 48, has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse in a joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4's Dispatches – which he strongly denies. Brand was married to Firework singer Katy, 38, from 2010 - 2012 before their relationship ended by a text message dumping on New Year's Eve.

After Katy returned to Instagram to share a photo of her latest clothing range, Orlando also ignored the Brand scandal as he shared a sweet post about his daughter Daisy Dove. Posting a snap of himself Facetiming his girl, the actor joked to fans it was like speaking to a 'cast of Disney characters.'

The actor, who was previously married to supermodel Miranda Kerr, returned to Instagram hours later with a lengthy post about 'determination.' The inspirational message, entitled "Daily encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda, September 20, 2023", read: "When your determination changes, everything else will begin to move in the direction you desire. The moment you resolve to be victorious, every nerve and fibre in your being will immediately orient itself toward your success. On the other hand, if you think 'this is never going to work out', then at that instant, every cell in your being will be deflated and give up the fight and then everything will really move in the direction of failure."

Orlando also took to the stage at a star-studded New York event on Tuesday night organised by Bill and Hillary Clinton and their daughter Chelsea. Speaking about the importance of ensuring Ukrainian schoolchildren continue to receive education following Russia's invasion, he said nothing about Brand at the Clinton Global Initiative 2023 summit.

Katy has also broken her silence following the allegations, but again didn't mention her ex-husband. The singer, who shares daughter, Daisy, with the Pirates of the Caribbean star, took to Instagram to share her latest shoe collection with her 205million followers. Showcasing a number of brightly coloured cowboy boots, the Roar star posed in a metallic blue pair while perched on a scooter. Alongside the shot, in which Katy stunned in a catsuit and black fur coat, she wrote: "scootin n bootin. @katyperrycollections."

Russell and Katy first met in 2008 at the VMA, but didn't begin dating until September the following year. Just a few months later, the pair were engaged and went on to get hitched in a lavish ceremony in India in October 2010. The nuptials featured an array of animals, including camels, elephants and horses. There was also a whole host of celebrities in attendance, incuding P Diddy, David Walliams, and Jonathan Ross - who was embroiled in Sachsgate with Brand.

On Saturday evening, the My Booky Wooky author was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse - which he strongly denies - in a Dispatches documentary, which was made in conjunction with The Times and The Sunday Times. Brand has yet to respond to the allegations since the documentary aired. However, on Saturday afternoon he took to his YouTube channel denying "serious criminal allegations" he said were to be made against him, insisting his relationships "were absolutely, always consensual".

Addressing his millions of followers, he said: "I've received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email. One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn't be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel. But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.

"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that."
