Disney Plus fans 'in tears' as much-loved feature 'axed' from service
Disney Plus seems to have axed its popular GroupWatch feature, causing outrage - and even tears - among fans.
The streaming giant launched the feature during the pandemic as a way for subscribers to watch movies and shows remotely with friends and family. It would automatically sync the stream so everyone in the group could watch together, even while apart.
But now GroupWatch - which required each household to have an active ad-free Disney+ subscription and be in the same country/region - seems to have been completely removed from Disney+ globally, reports What's On Disney Plus.

Perplexed and angry subscribers have been posting on social media that they can’t find the feature any more, with Disney’s official help pages having removed any trace of it. The official page for GroupWatch is now just redirected to the main Disney+ page. The GroupWatch icon was removed from App Store images earlier this month.

So far, Disney is yet to make any official announcement about the feature's apparent demise. It is not yet known whether it will make a comeback. As GroupWatch was born out of the pandemic - and people have since returned to their normal lives - it's possible the feature wasn't used as much.
Angry viewers will miss GroupWatch
Social media has been awash with disgruntled subscribers who used the feature a lot.
Sofia posted on X, formerly Twitter: "The groupwatch function was removed from Disney plus??? Tell me it’s just a bug."
Louis said: "Disney Plus removing the GroupWatch feature has got to be one of the most evil things any platform has done."
Hailey said: "Soo I just found out that Disney+ removed the GroupWatch feature. I'm literally crying. I used it every day."
