Kristen Bell said she warned Russell Brand 'not to try anything' when they filmed Forgetting Sarah Marshall in 2008.

The comedian, 48, who has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse - which he strongly denies - played English rock star, Aldous Snow, in the Hollywood blockbuster. Fans wondered whether Brand and co-star Kristen had hooked up while they were filming, with many saying the actors had great chemistry together. However, Kristen denied anything happened, insisting the comic - known as Rusty Rockets - 'didn't try to mess with me'.

Giving an interview shortly after the film, which also stars Mila Kunis and Jason Segel, aired, she said: "He didn't try to mess with me or get in my pants. He knew I would lop his n**s off." In another interview, Kristen shared: "I made it really clear from the beginning that I would sock him in the b***s if he tried anything. So he was intimidated."

Brand said "the perfect mate" for him would be Kristen when asked about his co-star, gushing: "Naturally Kristen would be the perfect woman for me. And the perfect guy, that's still me," he said. In a separate statement, the actress said she "loved" working with the My Booky Wook star, despite his controversial image. "Actually, I loved working with Russell," she said. "I may be the only woman in the world who would shout that from the rooftops, but I did."

The BBC, Channel 4 and a production company have said they are “urgently” investigating after four women made separate allegations of sexual assault while Brand was a presenter on their programmes. The allegations were made in an explosive documentary on Channel 4's Dispatches, which was joined with an investigation with The Times and Sunday Times and aired on Saturday night.

Brand is yet to comment on the allegations since the programme aired, but did take to YouTube on Saturday afternoon, vehemently denying what he called "aggressive attacks". Addressing his millions of followers, he said: "I've received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email. One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn't be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel. But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.

"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that. Then almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent about it now as well. And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
