Emmerdale's Alexander Lincoln has revealed he became the victim of a major travel disaster.

The actor who played Jamie Tate on the ITV soap between 2019 and 2021 took to his Instagram account over the weekend to document his trip to Pisa for a wedding. However, one thing he forgot to do for his first night was something most people do – book a hotel.

Alexander, 29, took to his Instagram Stories to share his mishap as he looked somewhat amused but also frustrated with himself while disclosing his almighty error. The heartthrob explained that his initial trip had been delayed due to ongoing travel issues.

However, upon arrival in the Italian city, he shared a snap of himself giving a thumbs up alongside the caption: "Getting into Pisa at 1:30am with no hotel booking." Alexander went on to later share a snap of makeshift bedding consisting of a sleeping bag outside of the airport which he had decided would be his home for the night. He wrote: "My room for the night outside the airport."

Several hours later, he documented his trip into the city as he shared a snap of the Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as of the River Arno to reveal he had managed to successfully enjoy his break. Over the course of the weekend, Alexander seemed to be embracing everything Pisa had to offer as he attended a wedding in the region.

But while embracing the stunning city, he also found himself nursing a horrific hangover after enjoying the bar at the wedding reception. The star shared a string of snaps and videos taken on his friend's big day. One snap saw Alexander's tattooed younger brother posing with the bride and two women who appeared to be bridesmaids, all while they held drinks in their hands.

A later video clip saw his brother appearing to vomit after the celebrations before he flashed a cheeky smile at the camera. The In from the Side actor went on to leave fans swooning as he posted a video of himself sipping on a red beverage before winking at the camera.

"Beautiful pictures and videos. The last video of you with the wink is my favourite," said one fan. A second commented: "That wink," alongside several rainbow emojis. Meanwhile, another typed: "Awwww wow that's ace and amazing that is mate."

Alexander went on to share a selfie of himself looking squeamish as he penned: "Hanging." However, hours later, he and his brother appeared in high spirits as they kicked back and relaxed on the beach. But their holiday enjoyment seemed to be short-lived as the Lambeth-born star later confirmed his flight had been cancelled.

Last year, Alexander received widespread praise for his role in In from the Side and also appearing to come out social media. The actor faced one negative comment on Instagram which read: "I loved the movie, and its actors are very handsome, but I still think that the actors are posing as gay, but they are not. Is it my doubt?" Alexander responded: "I'm not straight," alongside a heart emoji.

Speaking about the reaction to his comment, he told Attitude that he hadn't anticipated such a frenzied response. He said: "My mum called me up and was like 'So… you've come out?' Not in so many words, but sure, yeah. It's one of those things. I often don't think about what I'm saying, half the time! You say something in passing. I don't like to be mysterious and vague about things. I don't like to make people think I'm presenting myself in a way I shouldn't be. So, I felt this obligation to say something about it. Which I don’t regret. But [suddenly] it's everywhere."
