In October 2021, journalist Shahid Zehri was driving home to Karachi through the town of Hub, in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, when a bomb planted under his car seat detonated. He died of his injuries hours later.

Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said he strongly condemned the "heinous bomb explosion" and sent his condolences to the victims’ families.
